After being rocked by the numerous sexual misconduct allegations levied against its former Chief Executive Officer, Steve Wynn, American casino operator Wynn Resorts Limited has now reportedly announced the formation of a special department that will work to support gender equality and fair workplace treatment.

According to a Monday report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper, the new Culture and Community Department is to be led by company executive Corrine Clement and will also endeavor to support inclusion and diversity while championing the firm’s employee-led charity efforts.

The newspaper reported that Clement joined Wynn Resorts Limited in 2014 from rival MGM Resorts International and has most recently been working as the Las Vegas-based firm’s Innovation and Creative Development Executive Director. It explained that she moreover spent time with The Coca-Cola Company, the Phoenix Suns franchise of the National Basketball Association and the World Series of Poker and has served as the Human Resources Executive Director for the casino operator’s Wynn Palace Cotai venue.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that the creation of a Culture and Community Department is just one of a number of fresh initiatives from the new Chief Executive Officer for Wynn Resorts Limited, Matt Maddox. The 42-year-old replaced Wynn on February 6 and purportedly immediately set to work improving the image of the casino operator by instituting a six-week parental leave policy and changing the firm’s strategy on paying workers to take part in sponsored community enrichment programs.

Kim Sinatra, Executive Vice-President for Wynn Resorts Limited, reportedly told the newspaper that these initiatives were ‘a response to some concerns about our company’ before adding that the company does not ‘do things just for window-dressing’.

“We took a really good foundation in community engagement and employee giving and a great culture and were able to formalize an initiative that was bigger,” Sinatra reportedly told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “When new people become Chief Executive Officers, they have new priorities and they execute those priorities and this was one of Matt’s and we’re thrilled to be able to advance it.”

The newspaper cited Sinatra as explaining that the new initiatives have been broadly welcomed by employees of Wynn Resorts Limited before revealing that the firm has plans to launch similar schemes in the near future and intends to be proactive in detailing them to the public.

“I think the internal response is excitement,” Sinatra reportedly told the Las Vegas-Review Journal. “We’re in the process of [creating] programs that will roll out over time. Our scholarship program was introduced straight away [and] our paid parental leave was rolled out right away. We’re doing some major increases in our leadership development and training areas that we’re excited about and we’re doing some studies that will allow us to understand where we are in gender equality and give us a baseline for understanding where we are and moving forward.”
